Just kiddin'...but I toy with the crazy idea once in awhile. This is what homework after school looks like. I have my kids work for about 30 to 45 minutes when they get off the bus. That little schoolmarm (an offensive term for a woman schoolteacher, especially regarded as prim or old-fashion (dated insult)) likes to play school. I do, I do, I do...but we make it fun...most of the time.
Dawson doing his math worksheets...not so fun...repetition, repetition = retention...Yes?
Doodling after they were done writing "I like" sentences. Look at Skye, she loves it! Peyton drew her a fuzzy bunny.
Window markers make for great learning. Peyton learning <, >, =. Took a break for a little brain gym, not really he was muckin' around.
Dawson recalling numbers 1 - 25....Go Dawson Go!

Awesome World
My Trip to Canada
If I could ride in a hot air balloon I would take my friend Jacob. We would put peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwiches in my backpack. I would take a cooler for my root beer and Jacob's coca-cola. We can't forget our cheesy and hot Cheetos. We will take a sleeping bag and pillow. It might take us four days to get to Canada. I want to show Jacob the AWESOME WORLD!
by Dawson
I can just imagine you Dawson in your hot air balloon. You would be completely in your element and happy! A grand adventure to an awesome world with your best friend....it doesn't get any better than that.
Be Safe!

Dawson's Portfolio Picnic
Dawson had his portfolio picnic last Friday. We had lunch together and then he shared all of his work he has done during the 1st quarter. I am so proud of how hard he works. School is tough for this guy. He is sharp and gets the big concepts in school which makes him deceiving, but when it comes to reading and writing it's just hard. Hard for his mama too....I hate to see my guy struggle. But, everyday Dawson is eager to go to school and tackle his challenges. One of the reasons is that he has the best teacher in the universe (Dawson's words.) Mrs. York has been Dawson's angel. She gets him...maybe it's because she is creative and so is Dawson. Or that she doesn't try to change or control him...she lets him be my wild child.

Hang in there my Little Einstine...it will come with time.
If anyone has any ideas, resources, knowledge or tricks up their sleeve that will help my Dawson learn to read let me know...we have tried everything, but there has got to be something that will make it click. Thanks!
P.S. Here is the link to make a collage/mosaic.

Skye and I killing time waiting for Dave. She checked out the world through the binoculars and I clicked away. It felt good to just stop for a minute. This month has been crazy busy.

Peyton's Pumpkins
I volunteered in Peyton's class yesterday morning. Ten minutes before I have to leave he is clutching his throat and doubled over with a sudden case of the "I'm SICK"....really just homesick. So, I let him come home with me, cause secretly I really like having them home. Sometimes when I drop them off at the bus and pick them up it feels like forever since I have last seen them. So, Peyton and I hung out while Skye had a nap. We designed paper airplanes and made hot coco and toast. He invited his pumpkins and the lizard to have a picnic with us. Turned out to be a great little afternoon with my guy! So glad he was "sick!"

ROCTOBER!
LoVe this month...cause it's my birthday month. I am a firm believer in celebrating from the 1st to the big day...the 24Th.
But mostly I love that it's Halloween and the kids get so excited!
We tested out the dry ice on Dave's apple cider....can't wait to make root beer for the kids! Anyone have a dry ice root beer recipe that is to DIE for!
Definitely gonna make some apple cider with these creepsters!
This is going to be a hit!
Were gonna make these candle silhouettes cause their easy peasy!
My sister-in-law had these in her house and they were darling!
Some of these glitter pumpkins?
What about these to go in our front window....maybe!
EEEEEK!......It's gonna be FUN! I might be more excited then the kids.

If only...
If only we could just play outside all day...and there was no such thing as work or school or learning life lessons (chores, etc.)....which was what was taking place before all of this fun happened. We were all a little cranky...apparently no one liked the cleaning the toilet tutorial we gave. Before we all lost it we were shuffling the kids out of the house for an adventure...we all simmer down if we get a little fresh air...
and some hang time on the swing! Does that face not say it all!
Peyton had his little tongue hanging out the whole time.
It turned into GO BIG or GO HOME...it's not enough to just stand and take off...they needed to be launched!
Dave's hang time before he dropped into big air.
That's my little Peyton touching the tree on the other side...big air is no biggie when you are a little squirt.
Guess who is just as crazy as her brothers...yup...Skyzie Girl. She threw a huge fit until she had a turn. Dave wouldn't take her...but I would!
There is no way you can do this with out a cheeser!
P.S....You will feel a little Knotty when you Swing, but
Everybody should! :)
